Classes Offered at Acapriccio Dance Company

Tap/Creative Movement/Tumbling-Ages 2-3  A non-stop class for our busy little dancers!  This class will be an introduction into classroom activities, learning to work with others, listening to directions and of course...having lots of fun dancing!  Dancers will learn fundamentals of tap and tumbling, as well as exploring basic body movements.

   Apparel:  Girls-Any color leotard, Convertible tights, Black tap shoes

                 Boys-Shorts, T-shirt, Black tap shoes

Tap/Ballet Combination-Ages 4-5  A fun and exciting class working on body coordination and rhythm through movement and music.  Students begin by learning the basic fundamentals of tap and ballet.

   Apparel:  Girls-Any color leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes, Black tap shoes     

                 Boys-Shorts, T-shirt, Black ballet shoes, Black tap shoes

Tumbling-Ages 4 and Up  Ages 4-5 begin with basic strength-building skills like forward, log, straddle and dive rolls, handstands, kartwheels and bridge-ups.  Ages 6 and up continue with skills like bridge-downs, front and back walkovers, chest rolls, front and back handsprings, aerials and front and back tucks.

   Apparel:  Girls-Any color leotard, no tights unless footless

                 Boys-Shorts & T-shirt

Ballet-Ages 6 and Up  Ballet focuses on building strong technique in dancers, which can be applied to all other dance forms.  Dancers will focus on the fundamentals and terminology of classical ballet work.

   Apparel:  Any color leotard, Pink or suntan tights, Pink split sole ballet shoes

Tap-Ages 6 and Up  Tapping is a great way for a dancer to understand and learn new rhythms and timing.  Through intricate footwork and dancing, tappers will explore different ways to create new sounds and rhythms.

   Apparel:  Any color leotard, Suntan tights, Tan tap shoes

Jazz-Ages 6 and Up  Focusing on Broadway style jazz choreography, leaps and turns, dancers will definitely enjoy this fast-paced class.

   Apparel:  Any color leotard, Suntan tights, Tan split sole jazz shoes

Pom-Ages 6 and Up  Pom is most easily described as cheerleading without vocal cheering since it focuses on jumps, turns and stiff precise arm movements.

   Apparel:  Any color leotard, Suntan tights, Tan split sole jazz shoes

Hip-Hop-Ages 6 and Up  Hip-Hop focuses on the trendier moves that are currently seen in music videos.  Dancers will focus on body isolations and popping & locking, all while continuing to keep moves age-appropriate.

   Apparel:  Girls-Any color leotard, Black split sole jazz shoes

                 Boys-Comfortable clothes, Black split sole jazz shoes

Special Needs-Ages 3 and Up  A class just for our special needs kids!  Dancers will focus on tapping, tumbling and creative movement.  Parents are welcome to participate if necessary, however your child will have a 'class buddy' to dance with!

   Apparel:  Any color leotard or comfortable clothing, Tan or black tap shoes

Adult Tap & Jazz and Adult Hip-Hop  Whether you grew up a dancer or just want to try it for fun or exercise, this class is for you!
